Research context

Tesamorelin is a synthetic 44-amino-acid peptide analog of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) bearing an N-terminal trans-3-hexenoyl modification. In vitro and in animal models it has been studied for its binding and activation of the GHRH receptor, a class B G-protein-coupled receptor.

Research in rodent models and isolated cell systems has examined its receptor binding, cAMP-mediated downstream signaling, and its enzymatic stability relative to native GHRH. Identity and purity have been assessed by reversed-phase HPLC and mass spectrometry.
