Research context

This is a combination preparation of two synthetic peptides: Tesamorelin, a 44-amino-acid GHRH analog that targets the GHRH receptor (a class B G-protein-coupled receptor), and Ipamorelin, a pentapeptide growth hormone secretagogue that targets the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a). Both components act on distinct G-protein-coupled receptors characterized in vitro and in animal models.

Research on the component peptides in isolated cell systems and rodent models has separately characterized GHRH-receptor and GHS-R1a binding and their associated cAMP- and calcium-mediated downstream signaling. The individual peptides are characterized analytically by reversed-phase HPLC and mass spectrometry.
