Research context

IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is an 83-amino-acid recombinant analog of human insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), featuring an arginine substitution at position 3 and a 13-residue N-terminal extension. In vitro and in animal models it has been studied as a ligand of the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R), a receptor tyrosine kinase, showing reduced affinity for IGF-binding proteins relative to native IGF-1.

Research in isolated cell cultures and rodent models has characterized its IGF-1R binding and activation of the PI3K/Akt and MAPK signaling pathways, alongside analytical characterization by SDS-PAGE, reversed-phase HPLC, and mass spectrometry.
