Research context

GHRP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide (His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2) and one of the earliest characterized growth hormone secretagogues. In vitro and in animal models it has been studied as an agonist at the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), a G-protein-coupled receptor.

Research in isolated cell and rodent models has examined its receptor binding and downstream phospholipase C-mediated calcium signaling. The peptide has been characterized analytically using reversed-phase HPLC and mass spectrometry.
