TB-500 is the synthetic form of Thymosin Beta-4, a 43-amino-acid, water-soluble polypeptide belonging to the beta-thymosin family. In vitro and in animal models it is described in the literature as a G-actin-sequestering peptide, containing a central actin-binding domain that regulates the availability of monomeric actin within the cytoskeletal system.

Reported research in isolated cell cultures and rodent models has examined its interactions with actin dynamics and cytoskeletal remodeling, along with associated cell-migration and angiogenesis-related signaling pathways.
